Hummus

Hummus is a staple of Israeli cuisine, eaten at virtually every meal from breakfast to dinner. Israelis consume more hummus per capita than any other nation, and debates about who makes the best hummus are a national pastime. Traditional hummusiot (hummus restaurants) serve it warm with olive oil, whole chickpeas, and fresh pita bread.
