Falafel

Falafel has become Israel's unofficial national food, served in pita bread with salads, pickles, and tahini at countless street stands across the country. While its origins are debated across the Middle East, falafel became a symbol of Israeli culture in the 1950s as immigrants from across the region brought their culinary traditions.
