About “Home” in Hebrew
Bayit means both house and home, and the concept extends to the Holy Temple (Beit HaMikdash—the House of the Holy). Creating a Jewish home is considered a sacred act, transforming a physical space into a 'mikdash me'at'—a small sanctuary. The Jewish home, with its mezuzah on the doorpost, Shabbat table, and family rituals, is often called the foundation of Jewish life.
