About “Red” in Hebrew
Adom (red) shares its root with adam (human) and adamah (earth/soil), connecting the color to the reddish earth from which the first human was created according to Genesis. Red appears in Jewish symbolism in the red thread of protection (from Rachel's Tomb), the red heifer of ancient purification rituals, and the red wine used for kiddush and the Passover seder.
