Rav Mordechai Yaffe

The Baal HaLevushim, author of Levush Mordechai (1530-1612). Born to the Rav of Prague, he studied under the Maharshal and Rema. He became Rav of Horodna (Grodno) in 1572, then Lublin in 1588, then Posen in 1598. Two important commentaries on the Levush were later written: Elya Rabba by Rav Eliyahu Shapiro, and Levushei Tzedakah by Rav Tzadok Hakohen.
