Rav Chaim Kanievsky

Born in Pinsk (1928-2022), he was the son of the Steipler Gaon (Rav Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky) and the son-in-law of Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. He lived in Bnei Brak his entire adult life, devoting himself to Torah study with legendary diligence -- completing the entire Talmud Bavli, Yerushalmi, and all of Rambam's Mishneh Torah annually. He authored dozens of sefarim, including Derech Emunah, Shoneh Halachos, and Ta'ama D'Kra. In his later years, he was widely regarded as a leading posek and Torah authority, and hundreds of thousands attended his levaya.
