Author of Avnei Nezer (seven volumes of responsa) and Eglei Tal (a treatise on the laws of Shabbos) (1838-1910). Born in Bendin to Rav Ze'ev Nachum, author of Agudas Eizov, a descendant of the Rema and the Shach. In 1853, he married Sarah Tzina, a daughter of the Kotzker Rebbe, with whom he learned almost daily for nearly 7 years. He later accepted the Chidushei HaRim of Ger and then Rav Chanoch Henich of Alexander as his rebbes. In 1883, he became Rav of Sochatchov. His lectures lasted six to eight hours. He is frequently quoted in his son's classic work Shem Mishmuel.
